Family Fun Day at The Sir Barnes Wallis

We were overwhelmed ( in a good way) by everyone who joined in the fun on our Family Fete Day! It was great to see so many locals visiting their new pub and everyone had such great things to say about the new look and feel of the Sir Barnes Wallis.

Local Strong Man John put on a great performance and the crowd was clearly impressed by his beer balancing skills! Take a look at some of the photo’s taken on the day!

P.S If you haven’t had a chance to visit us yet, be sure to pop in soon!

Introducing the Sir Barnes Wallis

After several months, hundreds of man hours and countless nights of sleep we’re proud to be able to give you back your new pub with a new name to match! Here’s a few sneak preview pics of the pub but why not see it for yourself at our official opening on Saturday 5th June! We’ve got lots going on including entertainment from Guiness World Record holder and Strong Man John Evans.

See you soon!

Things Are Taking Shape…

Swapping Things Around
It’s certainly been a busy month here at The Woodman (or shall we say the Sir Barnes Wallis). This is what used to be our lounge area however as you can see there’s is some interesting changes taking place…
We’re changing things around in this part of the pub and making this section of the pub as an open plan bar area. We’ve put a new door next to the existing fire place which will lead out to the smoking area and come Winter the fireplace will be up and running, keeping everyone nice and toasty.
Everything is running to schedule and fingers crossed we will have  the new flooring installed this week and the room should be decorated with the addition of some nice new lighting and furniture.
Check back soon for the next update!

Enjoy a great pint and help save lives!

Rachel ( she’s our head brewer from Canada would you believe she’s only 21?) and since she arrived, Rachel has been busy  brewing a special charity ale called ‘The Woodman RED ALERT .’ Amber Ales will be donating 10p from every pint sold to  Watersafe UK Search & Rescue Team.

We’ve invited some of the team from Watersafe  UK to help Rachel brew the charity beer and it’s been a really exciting day because we’re not only brewing beer but it’s for a great cause. Look out for Red Alert soon!

We’re changing the name, a fond farewell to The Woodman and a warm welcome to a local hero

Since the pub is getting an entirely new look and feel we started do some thinking around the pubs current name and thought maybe a new name would be more fitting? After many hours of brainstorming possible new names ( and the help of our six year old son) who suggested that we call the pub Sir Barnes Wallis.
